:eek:My niece has been in foster care for several years and is now 18. She isn't beig allowed to leave her foster care until she is 19. She has a daughter who is only 8 months old and she wants me to adopt, get fose care of or temporary custody of her daughter until she is able to get her self out of foster care and her life stable enough for her daughter?
I need to know what I need to do to get my great niece legally?

First something does not sound right, I do not believe at 18, they can "keep" her in foster care, at least in the US.

She may be allowed to stay if she is in school till she graduates in some US states.

Sorry this does not match my personal experience in about 10 different states.

Since she just want you take care of her daughter until she's 18, adoption is out the question, even try temporary custody or kinship. Maybe speaking to her caseworker will be a big help in determing a solution.

Nor mine, and I just researched this, paticularly in NYS and also called my sister who has her Masters in SW and is employed in the system.
