How can I change an incorrect folder path to the right one. I had a removable hard drive attached to a network computer and changed the drive to this computer. The path still points to the network path e.g. \\goat\c\media\music. Goat being the name of the network computer.

I just want to change this incorrect path to a correct one as the drive is on this computer.

Thanks

Replace the path with

C:\Media\Music

C:\Media\Music in not the correct path to the folder. That was the path on the network computer. The folder path now is P:\music, but when that path is clicked, I get the error message."\\goat\c\media\music" is not accessible. (then some Windows blather about permissions)

I just need to know how to change the path from \\goat\c\media\music to P: music

Thanks

Jim

Is this a shortcut/icon you're clicking that is failing? If so, right-click the shortcut and correct the path in the shortcut.

If not, then what exactly is failing?

If it's simple network icon you're referring to, just remap the drive. Delete the old mapped network drive and use the drive/folder through your own My Computer listing of drives.

I have no drive mapped or unmapped. Never saw the need when my network was set up properly. I removed a Western Digital USB hard drive from a computer I no longer use. I plugged the USB drive into another computer which assigned the letter P to the drive. One of the folders in drive P is Music. I can not access it because the path points to a non-existant drive. There is no short cut to be edited, unless P\Music is a short cut but in anycase I can find noway to edit this folder

Thanks

If the USB drive is local, the correct path wouldn't be P\Music, it would be P:\Music

That is correct the corrrect path is P:\ Music. But in any case a right click will not allow editing.
