hi,
iam currently on 39 mg of methadone at my local clinic. ive been going their just over a month now. i want to stop taking methadone and i called my couselor and he said ishould withdraw 2 to 3 mg a day because i havnt been on long. will i have withdrawls if i drop that much each day. if anybody can help me and give me advise on how to get off without getting sick and what steps i should take,please help me

You need to listen to your couselor. The best way to stop taking this drug and to not be sick is to decrease the dogage. A little a day seems right to me, but everyone reacts differantly and you need to trust whoever you are seeing.
If you begin to feel ill.. tell them and they will adjust your dosgae until you are firee from it.
There will probably feel a little discomfort because you are used to feeling nothing. Do not confuse this discomfort with being "sick"

you may get with drawls but the best thing to have on your side is hope, if you keep telling your self the you can do it you should be able to pull through. if you feel youself wanting more try doing something to take your mind off it, like a walk, or reading a book
