I am trying to figure out ending balances in direct materials, WIP and finished goods. I have been given the data as follows:
Direct Material begin balance $16,000
WIP begin balance $34,000
Finished Goods begin balance $30,000
Direct Materials Purchased $160,000
Prime Costs (DM + DL) $294,000
Gross Profit based on sales 20%
Cost of Goods Available for Sale $450,000
Sales $500,000
Direct Labor $180,000
Overhead 4% of conversion costs (which is OH + DL)

I am confused! If direct labor is listed as direct labor and part of prime costs, how do I get this cost, and to get conversion costs I need to know how much direct labor I have. I know basically how to set up the problem, but not sure how to get these figures. It also says to use an actual system to apply overhead??) Any help would be appreciated!
