Hi there,
I am attempting to reinstall Norton 2008 on my computer (after I had to format it). I am experiencing trouble with the live updates and the scans. The three live update problems state:
1. Updates Internet Worm Protection engine. This patch does not require a reboot. The install script for this product had a syntax error so live update could not install it (error code 1825)

2. Liveupdate Notcie Updates. The install script for this update was unable to launch a file it needed. Liveupdate aborted the update install (error code 1812)

3. 1. Updates Internet Worm Protection engine. This patch does not require a reboot. The install script for this product had a syntax error so live update could not install it (error code 1825)

I did the instruction on the tech support with each one (something about a piupdate file and a SymKBFix) but the problems still occur.

Any ideas how this can be fixed? I find it particularly frustrating given that the program had been installed on my computer before without any problems.

Many thanks.

Try uninstalling the program using the Removal Tool from Symantec:

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039)

Reinstall the program. If you still get the errors, let me know.
