What did the solar cell keep from electricty generated at day time, to use at night?

Solar cells generate Electricity only when the Sun is Out, it charges DC Batteries that can be used as DC power to DC Devices/Appliances, or the DC Batteries can provide power to an inverter to make 120/240 or other volts of AC voltage.
