Our touch screen thermostat is very loud when it shuts on and off. I know this is due to the electrical relay but I am wondering if a different model would be quieter.

is it so loud that it wakes you up at night,,,if not I wouldn`t worry about it

Yes it is loud enough to wake us up. I dont have a sound meter, but it is unusually loud. So far the plan is to try a Honeywell replacement to see if it improves.

you could try putting a cushin or barrier of some type between the tstat and the wall it `s attached to ,it might stiffle or insulate the sound from being so loud,before you buy a new tstat,,,,goodluck
