Hi, I thought this would be a breeze since I build computers, looks like I was wrong  I took the old thermostat apart to expose the wires and noticed that in the instructions, there is no mention about 8 wire hook ups? Don't know what I'm doing at this point, and from what I can figure, some wires have to be combined or excluded, because the new digital thermostat doesn't have as many connections? I bought the Hunter 44260 and I have the
Carrier 4.0AQ030300BB
Volts 208/230
w/aux heat

I hope my blabbering didn't make this any more confusing...
thanks for your time.

when you take the junk(hunter ) tstat back where you got it,ask for a good honeywell tstat that will do what you need,,,,,,if its battery operated, you can do away with the common/c post, also if your system operates on 1 transformer, you can jumper the r/c and r/h which should be red (hot) wire and you have done away with 2 of the wires, now all you have to hook up is 6 wires,,,,,,,,,goodluck
