On shutting down Windows XP SP2/3 I am receiving message on screen "dwwin.exe DLL Initialization Failed, and sometimes "drwtsn32.exe DLL Initialization Failed". I have also noticed programs are slow to shut down whilst Windows is running and have to be shut via a window pop-up "End Program Now". Virus & Trojan scans come up clean. Any suggestions as to possible cause/s please?

You could try updating windows from Microsoft or searching Microsoft for dwwin.exe errors for similar problems or try Improve PC Performance (http://www.PCIssueTools.com)

Thank you Ozmum4. Have tried most everything to the point of frustration. I am at present deep scanning for malware using MS scanner. I will keep trying. Once again thanks for your assistance.

That's part of the Windows self-maintenance and the program it uses Dr.Watson. This is the engine behind the messages you sometimes get asking if you want to report an error you experienced to Microsoft.

Read through this page for some tips on cleaning up the problem:

Annoyances.org - dwwin.exe (Windows XP Discussion Forum) (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/n1029715523)

If that doesn't resolve it, someone indicated the solution on this page for a different problem also solved yours:

"Application Has Failed to Start Because Framedyn.dll Was Not Found" Error Message When You Open the System Properties Dialog Box (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319114)
