Hi,

I am currently on Yaz birth control and because of a different medicine I take they say the effectiveness of the birth control may be compromised (they don't know how much) so I always make sure to use a condom in addition to the birthcontrol. I never miss a pill and take them regularly every day at the same time (within 1-2 hours).

About 10 days before the end of my active pills (Yaz has 24 active pills) I experienced a brown discharge for about 5 days. I wasn't sure if this was an early period, I called my doctor she said there was nothing to worry about it could be an early period or breakthrough bleeding.

Yesterday, my "period" began as it should of however this morning there is an awful lot of brown discharge. I know this is old blood, but I am getting freaked out that it could be "implantation bleeding".

I feel fine, and am having normal cramps like I do each month with my period. I follow all the instructions to a "T" and use two methods of birthcontrol.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? Should I be worried? Is it to early to take a pregnancy test to make sure?

THanks, sorry this is so long, I have just been kinda freaked out for the past 10-12 days.

I would not be freaked out too much. I am on Yaz birth control and this happens to me occasionally my body seems to clean itself out because I use tampons all of the time. This makes it harder for some of the clots to come out so when I don't have them in and I am very physically or sexually active the old blood comes out. As for the pregnancy test you are supposed to wait until 30 days after your missed period, in your case there is no missed period. It doesn't hurt to take the test if it makes you feel better though. Good luck. :)
