My wife received injury settlement money, almost 100,000. If she puts that in the bank till we figure out what to do with it, will the goverment tax us? Should we put it in several banks? In the amount of 9,999.00 each that way the Gov. won't see it.

should not be taxable, but if it was, the company writing you the check would do the reporting anyway. You need to talk to your tax accountant on the issues.

Physical injuries or physical sickness settlements are generally non-taxable if you did not take an itemized deduction for medical expenses related to this injury in prior years.
