Brown blood is often considered to be "older blood" and usually is not a concern if it is minimal, does not continue or become red, and there is no cramping involved. In early pregnancy there can be some bleeding or spotting for a number of reasons, most of which are not an indication of a problem. Obviously, when in doubt, let your doctor know....peace of mind is part of the job....:)

Spotting is normal in early pregnancy, as long as is deosn't proceed into heavy bleeding. And brown discharge is old blood so that should be nothing to worry about. Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck with everything! :)
