I have PCOS and don't usually get a period. I have been bleeding for 5 weeks straight now and an ultrasound shows nothing. I have stabbing pain in my lower right pelvic area. Doc says to ride out the pain and take birth control and come back in 3 months. Is this normal? should a person have to live in this kind of pain just because? and what about bleeding to death?

I Had The Same Problem, My Dr. Did A Procedure Called Uterine Ablation. It Was An Out Patient Surgery That Only Took About 10 Minutes From The Time I Was Put Under Til I Was Moved To Recovery. I Had Minimal Cramping Afterwards And Was Dancing At My Company Christmas Party 2 Days Later. My Insurance Covered All But A $50 Co Pay. I Haven't Had A Period For 3 Yrs. Basically They Remove The Lining Of Your Uterus With A Laser. It's Not Recommended If You Plan On Having Children, But I Was Done With Having Babies So It Was By Far The Best Option For Me And I Would Recommend It To Every Woman.
