Company A shipped defective parts to Company B which required Company B to purchase replacements from another source. Company A has a signed an agreement to reimburse Company B for the purchases in the form of credit's against future purchases.

Can Company B record a receivable and reduction to expense (offset the purchase expense) in the current period based on the agreement or does it consider the agreed upon reimbursement contingent on future purchases and have to wait until the future purchases occur?
