Can someone please help me figure out whats wrong with my A/C? We can feel cool air coming from our vents but it's not staying cool inside the house. We checked the outside fan and it's not working. You can hear sort of a huming when turned on but no movement of fan. We checked the fuses and those are fine. Any help would be appreciated - we can't really afford to get someone to fix and it's nearing 85 degrees in our house. Thanks again

Check the capacitor on the outside fan motor.
Check the outside fan motor.
Check to make sure 240 volts is available to the outside fan motor.
Make sure the compressor in the outside comes on but do not leave running if the outside fan does not run.
If not capable of this you will have to call for service.
