If your unit is overheating I would suggest that you call a licensed repair person to come and properly service your unit. You may or may not have made things worse by trying to fix it yourself. Please do not keep running the unit as you could do more harm to the unit and possibly start a fire by the wiring heating up too much. Get the fans out and use them in the meantime.
