I will give it more space and what you can also do if he/she wants to keep certain things that on the computer have him/she save them then get rid of the visuses ....

Yes if you clean out the junk files (http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.com/2007/03/clean-up-tools-to-prevent-people-from.html) then it will free up more space

Yes, If you will remove the viruses from the computer then it will free up the space also delete the temp,%temp% and prefetch files from your computer. Just go to run and type one by one and delete all of them.
