I have Windows Vista. I have a Dell computer. It is 2 years old. This morning I went into Outlook Express to get my emails. When it got to message number 5, it wouldn't receive. I keeps telling me that it is receiving and has been doing that since 9:00 this morning. I called my broadband provider, who told me to call Dell. My computer is under warranty. I was on the phone for 2 hours with a technician who did some adjustments and then passed me over to Microsoft. When I spoke with him, he told me it would be simple to fix, but would cost me $129.95. He said it was a software problem. I called Dell back and spoke with another technician who told me that the new settings done by the previous tech were wrong and he reset them by going to Restore. He suggested that I call my broadband provider and see if they could delete the incoming emails. I did. They told me that all emails had gone through and showed me how to check them on their website. He suggested purchasing a new Outlook Express program and uninstalling the current one and replacing it with a new one. If the fix is so easy as the tech from Microsoft says it is, is there someone who could tell me how to do it without paying $129.95. It is my thought that even though I have a warranty that Dell claims not to know how to fix it and splits the fee with Microsoft. My computer is still showing "Receiving message 5." Thank you.

Vista does not have outlook express, are you using windows mail or outlook express, it is possible that message 5 just got corrupt somehow, see if you can have the email sent back to you, possibly another email account if you have one

Don't know of what fix they may be referring to though, hope you get this worked out
