Greetings..
At startup my month old Acer Aspire M1610 Desk Top , running Vista , the ACER & INTEL logo appear and remain for 6- 7 minutes after which progress to desktop is OK and online performance is great. Any clues out there ? Any would be appreciated .

If it only that old, you contact acer here is a link for e-mail support - Be patient when waiting for a respionse, they may take a few days to reply to you. I have used it in the past a couple of times. If you stop some of the processes on startup, that would definitely help

Thanks Seahwk but I~ve been down that route... Restored System to Factory Default on their advice but no luck. Acer want me to return it to Plymouth via their courier , fair enough... but I do not want to be without my new toy for an unspecified period and my experience with UK Couriers handling of fragile gear is not great. Can live with the delay for now , its just time to get the kettle on and make a cup of tea while waiting . Norm

With vista you can disable some services you do not use often or do not need to use
Here is link with the vista services, go dowdnl the list and disable ones you know you don't use or need, if you are not sure if you use it or not, leave it as is/

Also, have you checked your startup folder to see what you have starting with the PC?
Click start, run, type msconfig and click the startup tab
Look at the startup tab and look down the list of programs that st\art with the PC and uncheck one you know you don't need to have started
