You want last years statement.
You call your Social Security office and request a 2007 benefits statement

Social Security Online (http://www.ssa.gov/)

Economic Stimulus Payments Information Center (http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=177937,00.html)

If I'm not mistaking you don't need to file for a stimulus check. Once you've filed your taxes, you'll get your stimulus check if you are eligible. They use the last two digits of your social security number to determine what date you'll get your check in the mail or direct deposit. I've provided a link to help you determine when you should get yours.

If they had no income to file then they wouldn't get the automatic payment though and will have to file for it.

Oh, I didn't know that. I apologize.
