I have been told that I need a kickstart on my A/C outside condensor unit. Is it really necessary as it seems they told me that before, but that it was more of a plus for the unit. What is it and what does it cost to install?

Staying on the start windings to long is bad for the unit. They are also used for areas that have low voltage and power outages from time to time.
