Hello,
I had sexual intercourse on March 11th and I received my monthly period on time about 10 days thereafter (March 21st). However, I am now one week late on my period this month and I have never been this late before. Also, I have not had intercourse after March 11th. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it came out negative.

Over the past month -- my eating habits have been poor (having a much higher fat and caloric intake) and I have not exercised and slept properly either. As of the past week, I have been stressed and filled with anxiety due to graduate studies. I am not sure if all of this is causing the delay in my period.

I am planning to wait another week to see if my period comes in and if not, take another test. If it still comes out negative, I am thinking of going to the ob/gyn to get a blood test done.

1. Is there a possibility that my diet is causing my delay in period?

2. Has anyone taken a blood test -- and have it come back negative although they were pregnant?

3. What are the chances that I could be be pregnant given the circumstances?

4. Is it physiologically possible to get your period twice while pregnant? (I do not have a medical background, so pardon the absurdity of this question.)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I am experiencing the same thing. It is possible that stress can cause a delayed period

it may very well be your poor diet and stress. do your best to eat and sleep better, and try to relax. no bc is 100% effective so there is always some chance of pregnancy but if you used protection then your chances of being pregnant are sinificantly lower. i have heard that some women do continue having their period during pregnancy but i think i heard it was pretty rare.
since you had your last period on time, are experiencing things that can definately delay a period, and make no mention of any other signs of pregnancy i would lean towards thinking you are not pregnant. but i think you should still consider taking another test and maybe seeing a doctor if your period does not come soon just to play it safe.

Thanks for both of your responses. I ended up getting my period later that night itself. I was hesitant at first because I only saw a few droplets, however I ended up having the normal, heavy periods that I usually have that lasts for 5-6 days.

All responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
