Everywhere I can find it, it is connected with a foreign country. If you search it in Wik, you will see what I mean. May be British too, I've heard them call the electrical system in a house the "electrics". I've never encountered equipments in the U.S.

Equipment is both singular and plural, you don't need the (s) on the end.
