I want to apply ITIN for my child. If I go to a local office, will it be processed faster? Do I need to bring the child with me when going there?

When you go to a local IRS office, you get the paperwork certified as true copies and properly reviewed, but the ITIN is NOT issued by the local office. They just submit the paperwork for you to the ITIN processing center at Austin, Texas.

It supposedly makes the process faster, but I have not seen definitive proof of that fact.
