Do you mean the birth control pill Yasmin?

How much bleeding are you having during those 3rd week of pills? And have you been having the bleeding the entire year you have been on Yasmin or has it just started recently?

It's possible the dose of hormones in the birth control pills is not high enough. Which is why you were probably put on a higher dose. Sometimes women get what is called "break-through" bleeding while they are on the pill. Below I've listed possible side effects from Yasmin:

Nausea
Vomiting
Gastrointestinal symptoms (such as abdominal cramps and bloating)
Breakthrough bleeding
Spotting
Change in menstrual flow
Amenorrhea
Temporary infertility after discontinuation of treatment
Edema
Melasma which may persist
Breast changes: tenderness, enlargement, secretion
Change in weight (increase or decrease)
Change in cervical erosion and secretion
Diminution in lactation when given immediately postpartum
Cholestatic jaundice
Migraine
Rash (allergic)
Mental depression
Reduced tolerance to carbohydrates
Vaginal candidiasis
Change in corneal curvature (steepening)
lntolerance to contact lenses

If you're unsatisfied with this kind of birth control I would suggest you try another one. Sometimes you will try 3 or 4 before you find one that is right for you!
