I was working in Buffalo under J-1 visa.. as an intern.
I know everything about the federal tax return but im completely lost about the state tax return  .

I filed the federal state return as a non-resident... but I think it's different for the state. Am I consider as a resident if I work and live in the same state?

What forms should I file for my New york State tax refund? Can I do it online?

Thanks

Yes, if you lived in NY state for the entire year, yu are considered to be a resident. File Form IT-201.

You should be able to file on-online for JUST the NY state return.
