I breast fed for 5.5 months. I stopped about the second week in Feb. after gradually weening. But, I haven't had any periods at all. I had a negative pregnancy test last Sat. Is this normal?

the only "norm" is that there isnt one, in that some women start quickly, some have long delays. your body is likely still ridding itself of hormones induced by breastfeeding that suppressed your period. i believe your MD can jump start your cycle with hormone treatments if desired.

in the meantime, use birth control if you dont want another pregnancy, as your cycle might take several months to get back to a regular pattern and a lack of period doesnt mean you cant be fertile. assume you are fertile, with an unpredictable cycle.

have you had any cramping? sometimes a "sign" of the body getting ready to kick into gear.

im not the AMHD expert in this particular area, so be sure to check back to see what others say. and dont be afraid to consult with your doctor for the best advice.

congratulations on your beautiful baby!
