on my furnace when the blower motor come on it make a grinding noise the blows the fuse on the furnace is the motor bad the fan spins freely it is a direct drive motor

A grinding noise is usually the fan being loose or the bearings in the motor are defective. depending upon what kind of noise it really is it could also be the start capacitor. Ususlly that is a room room sound and the motor usually will not go to full speed.
