Hello Friends.

I am sure similar question must have been asked in other thread but mine is bit different. My Mom came to US with a visitor visa on Oct 24 2007 and stayed until Jan 24th 2008. Could I claim her as dependent while filing taxes? I am in process of getting ITIN number for her.

Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.

I dont think you can claim your mom as a dependent by virtue of her being independent as your mother. What amount would you claim and how would you arrive at a figure ?

You cannot claim her; she must be in the U.S. for at least 183 days in the same tax year.
