You may find these useful:
Before you toss that jug of liquid laundry soap, empty it out. Take the top right off. Surprise enough In the bottom, for one or two more loads.
Do the same with your liquid fabric softener.
You don't need to use a whole fabric softener sheet. cut it in half. It's plenty to dry a load with.
Don't despair if you don't get to your dryer, when it stops. Just put some fabric softener on a wash cloth. Toss it in with the load.
You can cut a small sponge into four pieces. Now keep these in a bowl, with fabric softener. Put a tight lid on. When your ready to dry a load, toss in just one.
You can put three tablespoons of liquid fabric softener in a spritzer bottle. Fill rest of the way with water. shake up. Now open your dryer, and spray a few times. I do this a lot. Then no need for a fabric sheet, or the others.
You can use less detergent to. The manufacturers just want, you to go back to the store sooner.
A repair man that put a new heating element in my dryer, told me this. If I have soft water, I only needed to fill my cup half full with dish soap.
When you buy new jeans, wash them in salt water. The salt will soften them.

Also to keep their color, put vinegar in the rinse water. Just a half a cup will do nicely.
