 How do I go about finding out if someone filed for my child?

The only person who can file for the child is the guardian who provides more than half for the child, so if you did not, then you can't file, and if someone else did not, they cannot file. Only one person can file, or if you are married, joint file, but yeah..

File your own tax return and claim your child, If someone beat you to it, the IRS will let you know.
