I filed for taxes before like 3 years ago, i have been working at a new job and was of the books , but recently i was told i needed a social security because IRS Department fined my boss since he had almost everybody of the books, here is my question can my Itin number be used for this puspose, I recide in new york so prety much everybody has employees working for them of the books, I don't qualify for a social security number beacuse of my legal status... so is the Itin number valid to file for taxes in this case???

Yes, ITIN is used by persons who are not eligible to get SSN.
