Hi,

I work in Tennessee and my employer is in New Jersey. He is withholding my state tax for New Jersey. Can I ask him to follow state tax regulations of TN. TN has no state tax and I am unnecessarily paying NJ tax. Please help.

What state do you live in? If Tennessee, then since you neither live nor work in NJ there is no reason for your employer to be witholding NJ taxes. In the mean time, you will have to file a non-resident NJ tax form to get back the tax money your employer has incorrectly withheld.
