Hi

I am staying in US from Aug, 2002 to Present. I am currently in H1-B visa status (I am not in dual status). What tax form do I need to fill out and will I be eligible for the indo-us tax deduction ($5000)? Can someone let me know?

Thanks!
Ganesh

How long have you had the h1-B visa and what was your visa status previously?

I got my H1-B via on Mar 2006. Before that from Aug 2002-Mar 2006, I was in F1 visa status.

Thanks!
Ganesh

You are resident for 2007. So you will file form 1040EZ or 1040. You will get standard deduction of $5,350 and exemption of $3,400.
