While in the processes of moving, I had a house in Georgia being sold and was paying for a corporate apartment in Wisconsin that was not reimbursed by my employer. While it appears that I can not deduct the apartment costs as a moving expense (that I can only deduct the costs during the move, not before the house was sold), I was curious if I could deduct the corporate apartment as a misc job related expense?

I believe so, because you rented the apartment to be in Wisconsin for your employer's convenience.

However, it is an IFFY deduction at best. Further, it must exceed the 2% of AGI floor, then must combine with other itemized deductions to exceed your standard deduction.

Finally, it is definitely NOT deductible if you stayed in the apartment for longer than one year.
