live in a condo in phoenix. the heat pumps/air-conditioning units are on the roof. since i live on the second floor, i can hear the unit from the homeowner below every time it runs--worse in summer than in winter with temps up in the 100s daily. the owner's unit is at least 20 years old and the noise is unbearable.
so far, the association arranged for a service call to place small noise pads under the corners and a bonnet on something in the unit. nothing helps.
what else can i suggest to the homeowner or the association to subdue the noise--i am sure it can be moved and insulation placed under the unit to absorb the sound. and, suggesting a new one, of course, is out of the question. lucky if i get a response from the owner who, at this point, is difficult to work with.
help.
