You could get in trouble with the law depending on where you live. You most likely could be in trouble with her parents no matter where you live.

**EDIT**

Now as long as there is not inappropriate touching, kissing, fondling, sex... you can't get in trouble with the law.

It's doubtful that you'd get in legal trouble just for dating. But if you have sex, you could get in serious trouble.
And her parents might have a thing or two to say regardless.

I think its only 18 and older that get in trouble for stagatory rape.
But those case are only really recognized, like previous posts said, because parents turn in the guy because they don't like him.

You think wrongly depending on the area. What matters more is the age of the victim not the rapist.

Also, if the prosecutor becomes aware of the sexual misconduct they may be required to prosecute.

But there is nothing illegal about dating, only have sexual relations.

No not for dating. Make sure he doesn't pressure you in to sex. But then you might have real feeling for each other just make sure you can't trust him and you are aware of safe sex. Also I know it sounds mad but talk to your parents I'm sure they would feel better knowing you can tell them stuff. I lost my virginity at 15 but I felt I was ready I went on the pill and we used condoms I told my mum to put her mind at ease. I am not 19 with the same guy and we are engaged. My advise is if you are to have under age sex like myself make sure you are 100% ready, always be safe and keep it to yourself trust is a huge issue. If you care for each other there shouldn't be a problem with trust.

Umm What makes you think it's the 14 yr old girl asking? Appears to me it's the 17 yr old boy asking.

I know if I were her father, you would be in trouble. Otherwise, I am not sure, I would think it would have to do with the age difference and the age of consent in your area.

Well I'm writing from a girls view but either way they should know they are ready and able to practice safe sex whether they have intercourse or not

Dating, no. Sexual contact, yes.

I had to go to a law related education class a couple weeks ago and it was brought up that teenagers CAN get in trouble for making out in public.
And it is in fact illegal for any girl under 18 to have sex.
No matter what the age of the guy.

First, the age of consent varies from area to area. There are areas where its not illegal for a girl of 14 to have sexual relations. Second, there are places where public displays of affection can go too far. But that is subject to interpretation.

Sounds like that class was designed more to scare teenagers then to teach factual information.

In most places I come from the 14 year olds father would just shoot you. But then that is where I come from.

I am not sure anywhere a 14 year old can have sex legally ( but of course there could be) so if the dating turns to sex, you could have all sorts of legal issues.

Age of consent in Holland is 14. In certain circumstances Canada sets it at 14.

First rule of trying to do something without getting in trouble... DON'T MAKE YOUR SCREEN NAME LIL_PIMP!

From this name alone I don't think I really like your ideals when it comes to women/girls. Keep it in your pants homes, and you will be fine.

Well that's great. However, the rest of the world doesn't necessarily have the same laws.
Where I live, the age of consent is 16 for guys and girls, but a 13 and a 15 year old could have sex without either of them committing a criminal act (although it's still technically against the law). And as it's been said, in some places the age of consent is 14.
And making out in public... it certainly isn't illegal here. If intimate parts of the body are visible, it's indecent exposure, but making out is accepted.

Point is, laws change from place to place. While that might be true of where you live, it doesn't necessarily apply to the OP.

You won't in trouble man unless her parents don't like you. Besides you're a minor just like her. I see it in my high school where older guys go out with younger girls

Just dating, not legally. Fooling around with her, depends on where you live but probably, if you get caught.

My impression just from your screen name is your intentions may be more than "dating" her. Why at 17 would you want a 14 yr old? You should be thinking more of her and getting HER in trouble! not yourself! Leave her alone!
