Hello there!

I lived and worked in Indiana for exactly 6 months (January to July), then I lived and worked in Illinois for from July 4 until the present.

Do I need to file 2 separate federals as well as 2 separate states?

Please help and thanks!

Yes, you will file for both the states Indiana and Illinois.
To tell you more, you must post most information: your residence status in the U.S., if visa then type, did you file 2006 return and your status.

Pamaluski:

Assuming you are a U.S. citizen, you file ONE federal return and a state return for BOTH Illinois and Indiana as PART-YEAR residents of each state.
