Hello,

Last year, I had called IRS and they told me that interest earned by a non resident on money kept in an internet saving account is exempt from federal tax.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Best Regards,

Indranil

That is true. Typically, ANY bank interest for a non-resident alien is exempt from U.S. taxes.
