my gas heater pilot is lit, and it sounds like the heater is starting to turn on, but the blower never comes on. I think that the pilot isnt lighting the burners buy i really dont know much about how it works. any ideas?

Can you see the pilot light and is it lighted for sure? If you can see the pilot youshould also be able to see and hear the the burner fire up when there is a call for heat. Do you hear the flame?

Most gas unit with a pilot light also have a thermocouple. It needs to be right in the flame to wor and even then they need replacing once in a while. Cheap at any hardware store, they are pretty much universal. If the thermocouple is working you need to locate the wires from the therostat and tell me what colr each wire is at the panel of the furnace. I could tell you how to short out the stat and bypass it.
