It can take a number of months to get pregnant after stopping any form of hormonal birth control. With the pill it can take up to 3 months, or as long as 6 months for the pill to be completely out of your system.

While you may be getting your period, the pill prevented you from ovulating, so it may take another month or so before you begin ovulating once again.

Periods and ovulation do go hand in hand. However, the pill is designed to stop ovulation. It takes several months for the pill to be out of your system enough for ovulation to begin again.
