This air conditioner (Brand Unknown) services a Mobile Home. It is located outside. It is a large square Metal housing that houses a compressor, two double shaft motors with fan blades on one end and squirrel cage blowers on the other end. One of the fans broke, the fan blades separated from the fan hub. It was being service by a repairman that had gotten a new fan. Prior to his replacing it, his father died in another state. He was and still is there settling the estate. Not knowing whether he would ever return, I removed the old fan, however the hub was frozen to the shaft. Not having a puller, I preceded to beat it off the shaft. I installed the new fan, but when I turned on the unit, the motor was magnetically locked. I figure that I ruined the bearing causing the shaft to be out of aline. The motor did operated prior to removal of the old blade. Can this bearing, not knowing bearing terminology, I would call it a saddle bearing, be replaced without removal of the motor or is a new motor in order? If I need a motor, where do I purchase on? You need to call a professional before something else happens. You are probably correct in that the motor is toast. locate one at a local supply house OR from a HVAC company in your area. Also replace the motor capacitor at the same time. Good luck.
