I purchased a small company. How do I handle recovering my investment from the profits of the company

I know this sounds simple however through time your initial investment is returned to you. If the company is profitable and/or the profit is increased you obviously will receive that profit. After a period of time your investment is secured and from that period you continue to get the money that drops through.
