My York Gas Furnace starts only when manually switching the electrical control switch. The thermostat is new, but the furnance seems not to respond to its temperature control, what is the problem and how do I solve it?

I would bet it is a pinched or defective low voltage wire from the furnace to the thermostat or the new thermostat is wired incorrectly.
