We have turned on our thermostat to 68 to bring the heat on but our furnace will not kick in and the thermostat keeps resetting itself to 64. The pilot light is on in the furnace but the heat will not kick in.

you could try to jumper between the 24volt power supply to the heat circuit and see if the heat comes on. Is the thermostat digital?
