hi- i am looking to replace our current vent free fireplace to inlude the surround, firebox and logs. i want it to be at least as big as the current one (50" wide across the front, 49" tall and 17 1/2" deep from the wall). ive found a few surrounds that are labeled for electric inserts. if the depth and opening would accomdate a propane insert, can one stating for electric insert be used? or is there something special used for the higher btus of propane vs. electric? or is the electric surround's openning typically smaller? the above measurements are without the base which is larger. we plan not to use the base and where the base has been, we would like to either tile or put hardwood. would tile be better because of the heat? please if you could let me know at ttamerica@<hidden> i would be grateful. looking to do this install as soon as the first weekend in november. thanks for any advise you may have.
