I am in the process of gutting and redoing a mobile home. To make the bathroom larger I would like to move the water heater into the same room the furnace is built into. I have a coleman presidential 2 furnace and a gas water heater - that I could replace with an electric. I plan to make a separate compartment for the water heater (it is also gas) but wanted to know if there are any minimum clearances that I should be aware of. I know that I must "beef up" the floor under the water heater (that is part of the reason I am moving it - the floor rotted out where it had been - so I had to pull it all out to rebuild the floor - joists and all )so figured while it was out I would put it back in the small (basically useless) sized room that the furnace closet is built into. I would like to build the water heater closet right behind the furnace closet. Is this possible?
