i have a hunter thermostat model 42999b i have a green wire and white wire blue wire yellow wire and orange wire my ac/heater unit is a carrier on the new hunter thermostat it has g,w,y,rh,rc some please help me so i can have some heat

It sounds like you are trying to run a heat pump with a regular thermostat. It won't work. Go to the sticky at http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/heating-air-conditioning/heating-cooling-maintenance-repair-troubleshooting-frequently-asked-questions-58313.html

Read the sections on do I have a heat pump and wire colors. If the Hunter thermostat doesn't have directions for a heat pump, take it back for one that does.
