Please help! My friend who is a hairdresser offered to do my highlights for me at home. I have dark brown hair with a small hint of red. This is the third time she has touched up my roots and every time the colour is terrible. I look as though I am going grey with these white stripes and almost solid white/blonde on the sides of my head  . I was really after a sunkissed natural look with golden strips some thick and some narrow :) . But all I have is garishly coloured hair. Please recommend a product I can use at home to tone down the blonde. I would like to avoid having to ask her to do my roots again so perhaps I should even go a darker colour like an auburn or copper and then perhaps add a few lighter streaks. Please let me know what you recommend. I am 34 and a Mum of 2. I am after a a non conservative look but also not too funky :p
