I recently installed a sink in my laundry room. A outlet above counter height was replaced with a GFI. This outlet feeds an outlet below counter for the washer. Prior to replacing the outlet with the GFI, both outlets were fine. Now that the GFI is installed, I am getting a correct reading on my tester of the GFI outlet, but the second outlet I am getting "hot/ground reverse" reading on the tester and the outlet is not working. HELP I need to do laundry!!

Sounds like the white wire has a loose or broken connection someplace, can be at either outlet. Be careful that the feed into the first outlet is connected to LINE on the GFI. And if the GFI is protecting the second outlet, that wiring needs to connect to LOAD on the GFI.

If the first GFI is not intended to protect the second outlet, both the feed and wiring to the second outlet will connect to the LINE side of the GFI.
